Kibera fires 

The slums of Kibera, Kenya, have long been plagued by a lack of proper infrastructure and government services. One of the most pressing issues is the widespread use of illegal electricity. Despite the government's efforts to provide legal electrical connectivity to all citizens, most residents of Kibera continue to rely on illegal connections provided by local cartels. This is partly due to the low income and lack of job opportunities that affects the community, making it hard for them to pay for the legal electricity.

The government has tried to address this issue by cracking down on illegal connections, however, these efforts have been to no avail. The illegal connections continue to be popular among residents as they are more affordable and easily accessible than the legal connections.

These illegal connections are not only dangerous but also incredibly unreliable, often resulting in electrical fires that cause devastating destruction of property and, in some cases, loss of lives. The government's failure to effectively address this issue is a clear indication of their neglect towards the residents of the informal settlements.

As a resident, I have witnessed firsthand the devastating effects of illegal electricity on my community. I feel compelled to document these issues and bring attention to the need for proper infrastructure, job opportunities and government services in Kibera. The people of Kibera deserve better and it is time for the government to take responsibility for their welfare and provide them with the services they are entitled to.
